Level 2 Teaching Assistant Job Advert

Would you like to work in an outstanding school and benefit from tailored support to help you succeed in your career?

The Governors of Porter Croft Church of England Primary Academy wish to appoint a level 2 teaching assistant. Porter Croft is a brilliant place to come to work. Our amazing children are eager to learn and do well and our supportive parents give us a real sense of community.

17½ hours per week, 39 weeks per year (mornings) – required as soon as possible.

We wish to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated, flexible individual to join our Academy. The position is to work within a class, supporting groups or individuals. The person appointed will be able to sustain positive relationships with children and adults and have a commitment to professional development. Experience of working with children in the classroom environment would be an advantage although not essential.

The Christian faith is an essential part of our academy. It underpins the work we do in serving our diverse community. Governors and the academy recognise the central part that a Christian belief plays in the life of individuals and the academy as a whole. In an academy with so many different cultures and faiths this is seen as an important part of who we are and what we stand for. Our motto, “Together we are Porter Croft”, encapsulates this spirit – at our academy you will be part of the Porter Croft family and we are committed to supporting your development as you will support the development of others.

This is an exciting time for our Academy. Porter Croft has progressed from a satisfactory OFSTED judgement in 2007 to “good” only 2 years later in 2009 and to outstanding in March 2015. Our last OFSTED Report said: “Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary. They are polite and considerate towards others. They feel very safe and well cared for. The very good relationships throughout the academy reflect the academy motto, ‘Together we are Porter Croft.’” The focus on staff development and pursuit of excellence was also commented upon:

  • “Staff are very involved in researching and improving many aspects of education through work with other schools and educational provision.”
  • “Senior leaders are excellent role models to other staff and are very skilled in improving the quality of teaching and setting targets for others. Their observations and their analysis of the quality of teaching and learning are thorough and sharply focused on constant improvement. The excellent quality of teaching is built on high levels of training and systematic research such as in the development of new assessment arrangements and effective teaching of English grammar.”

Porter Croft is an environment where you will be able to flourish. Please read the full report which is available on our website.

Visits to the academy are welcomed and encouraged. For more information and to arrange a visit please contact the school on 0114 2662132 and view our website at www.portercroft.org.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check will be required.

An information pack and application forms are available from the school office or by emailing s.moxon@portercroft.sheffield.sch.uk. Potential applicants are encouraged to speak with the Headteacher and questions are welcomed.
